The History of Wetherby Day Nursery

Wetherby Day Nursery was established in the Spring of 1988 by Julia Clarke, an N.N.E.B. (Nursery Nurses Examining Board) qualified nursery nurse. More recently Julia has qualified to B.A.(Hons) degree level in Young Children’s Development and has gained Early Years Professional Status in 2012.

Julia had previously worked as a nanny, caring for the young children of two families in Harrogate and Alwoodley, Leeds. More recently she had worked at St.James University Hospital in Leeds, where she cared for the children in the hospital staff creche.

Julia initially set up the nursery (under the registration and guidance of the Harrogate Borough Council Local Authority and North Yorkshire County Council Social Services Department) to provide child care for up to 20 children, aged between 3 months and 5 years.

During 1998 the nursery was extended to accommodate up to 30 children then in 2011 extended again to care for up to 38 preschool children.

Wetherby Day Nursery is fully registered with Ofsted [reg no. 400118] and operates under their guidance and the government set Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
